運動對於大眾極為重要,國民健康署建議國人每天運動至少30分鐘來促進健康的生活型態(1),定期運動不僅可以促進代謝、控制體重、預防慢性疾病,你知道其實運動還可以影響免疫系統嗎(2)?

 

運動如何影響免疫力

流行病學指出,定期運動可以增強免疫能力來降低病毒和細菌的感染率以提升身體健康,但部分學者認為長時間、劇烈的有氧運動,可能會在運動後3至72小時內抑制體內免疫能力,使運動後更容易感染、感冒,這在運動界稱之為“Open-Window Hypothesis”(3)。

為何運動會降低免疫力

“Open-Window Hypothesis”的研究始於 1980 至1990 年代,至今科學家仍不斷研究想了解為何運動後可能會降低免疫能力,使運動員更容易感染、感冒。在1982 年的一項南非研究發現,超級馬拉松比賽中有三分之一跑者在比賽後2 週產生了流鼻涕、喉嚨痛、打噴嚏等上呼吸道感染的症狀(4)。另一項在 1987 年洛杉磯馬拉松比賽發現,在完賽後約有12.9% 的人在一周內也產生了呼吸道感染(5)。

而近年有研究人員認為運動後更容易感染、感冒,可能是因為劇烈且長時間的有氧運動會導致體內免疫球蛋白 (IgA) 水平暫時降低,進而造成體內免疫力下,使感染、感冒的風險增加。研究招募了富有經驗的馬拉松跑者,結果發現賽前賽後相比,唾液免疫球蛋白 (IgA)的分泌率下降了 25%(6)。同樣,在另一項划船研究中,運動員在進行 2 小時的划船運動後,觀察到唾液免疫球蛋白 (IgA)分泌率降低了 20%(7)。

運動後可以怎麼預防感冒的機率

營養師建議長時間進行高強度鍛鍊的運動員,可以透過攝取加強防護力的營養品來避免運動後感染、感冒,像是維生素 C 或是β-葡聚糖。因研究發現服用維生素 C 能降低馬拉松運動員感染、感冒的風險(8);而β-葡聚糖的研究發現能降低馬拉松選手上呼吸道感染天數並提高唾液的免疫球蛋白(IgA)(9)。

最後營養師提醒經常進行高強度運動的各位,為了避免運動後免疫力降低、感染感冒的發生、為了避免“Open-Window Hypothesis”,除了營養補充外、增加放鬆與休息也非常重要喔,在高壓的運動過後,更該多加休息使身體得已恢復、充飽電後,再繼續下一次的挑戰喔!
